I’ve had a lot of experience both selling and purchasing items from Tumblr users: whether brand-new items and art that were commissioned from the ground up, or used merchandise and cosplay items. Tumblr is great because it’s not eBay—you deal directly with the person selling, and there’s no selling fees lost along the way, since items are shared via blog posts. I’d like to share some of my advice that will hopefully help bolster your sales, protect you as a seller, and also educate buyers and help them protect themselves, as well. There’s a small cheat sheet for shipping prices, too!
Under the cut find stuff about:
- Being an art customer
- Being a costume customer
- Being a used cosplay/merchandise customer
- Selling art commissions
- Selling cosplay commissions
- Selling used cosplay/merchandise
This is REALLY GREAT advice for anyone buying or selling commissions or other things!
Gonna try to start using this again…we’ll see how it goes I guess!
Hello again tumblr. How do I still have 100+ followers when I never post anything?
All of my costumes currently for sale are listed on my etsy shop! :) https://www.etsy.com/shop/melvinopolis
Posting ALL the Cinderella photos! Sorry guys! I hope you don’t mind! This really was such an amazing experience!
My lovely Anastasia and Drizella are Technically Toki and Blueeyesdante~ We each made our own dresses! They came up with their own steampunk inspired designs, while I remade my dress based on Shoomlah’s historically accurate princess artwork.

I love Portal 2. It’s hard to put into words just how much Portal 2 means to me, especially because I haven’t played the game - the mechanics are far too much for me. So I’ve watched friends play, and experienced the full game through a Let’s Play on youtube. But still - Portal 2 made me cry, it made me think, and it gave me so many feelings about the worldbuilding and structure of Aperture Science. And since Portal 2’s release, I have wanted to do a shoot of the endgame - Chell in a field of gold.
When I found out Nina was cosplaying Chell, and that she was going to weather her suit to look appropriate to the end game, I pitched the idea of this shoot at Midori. And with thanks to Berndor we drove to find a field (or, in this case, section of tall grass) in the woods that would be appropriate.
Made the whole weekend for me, and hot damn is this going on my wall.
One of my dearest friends, Ollie Oberg, went missing as of around 4-5AM. We’re all worried sick about him. He’s originally from the Baltimore area (Elkridge, MD), though he is presumed to have his car with him and could be anywhere by this point. All any of us ask is if you’ve seen him, or do see him, please alert police so they can get him home safe. He drives a grey/silver Matrix. Apparently his phone was found, but not him.
Please come back, Ollie. You are the brightest, sweetest, wonderful person, and so many people love you and are so worried.
Please signal boost. I’ve seen tumblr do amazing things when they put their minds to it. We all just want to make sure our dear friend is safe.
Another favourite 90’s anime: Fushigi Yuugi, and I still unashamedly love it. It was a huge influence on my work growing up. Here’s Chichiri and Nuriko, and I would draw more characters ‘cause there’s a ton that I like but I need to get back to work. Maybe later?
I used to draw FY fanart veeery often in high school. Holla if anyone remembers those pieces I uploaded.
